Acupuncture Today
Today, as medical science has progressed into quantum physics, current technology has confirmed the physical existence of the energy pathways the ancient Chinese called meridians. In recent years the AMA (American Medical Association) has accepted acupuncture as a relevant branch of medical science.
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese practiced based on the belief that health is determined by the vital life energy that flows through every living thing. This energy is thought to move through the body along pathways called Meridians, each of which is linked to a specific organ. If the flow of energy is balanced, a person enjoys good health. If something interrupts this flow, however, various health problems can result. Acupuncture is used to restore proper energy flow, and, as a result, good health.
What is Meridian Therapy?
Meridian Therapy is the accepted name employed by those who practice the principle of Acupuncture without the use of a pentrating needle.
Acupuncture is a principle, not a technique. Therefore, there are many ways to stimulate an Acupoint other than a needle. Dr. Janway uses touch or pressure and sometimes electronic stimulation as well as needles to treat an Acupoint. The principle of Acupuncture does not change, only the technique.
Lora Bitting, our Energy Medicine Practitioner, is trained in three different methods of working with the Meridian system. All are needle-free.
The goal of Acupuncture is to restore normalcy to the body's energy balance by utilizing a combination of Acupoints located on the twelve Meridians. These Meridians are connected to all of the organs and various systems in your body.
The Benefits of Acupuncture
More and more Americans are turning to Acupuncture as a natural way to heal, without the side effects of drugs traditionally prescribed in Western medicine. Studies have shown Acupuncture to stimulate the production of endorphins, the bodies own natural painkillers, cortisol, which has an anti-inflammatory effect on the body, and serotinon, a mood enhancer. Acupuncture is effective for a wide variety of health problems, including sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, migraines, backache, digestive complaints, arthritis, gynecological disorders and many more.
The Acupuncture Treatment
The essentially painless, minimally invasive technique employs the insertion of very fine, sterilized, disposable needles into specific points along the meridians. Patients may experience a warm, heavy or tingling sensation, all of which are normal. Together, the patient and practitioner discuss the goals for treatment and how many visits may be necessary.
Infertility and Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been used for centuries in the treatment of infertility in China. Recently it is gaining popularity here in the United States to help women conceive. Many couples have had great success with Acupuncture when modern medical treatments for infertility were unsuccessful.
Dr. Janway has an approximate 90% success rate in helping women, through acupuncture, to conceive even after they have tried everything else.
Acupuncture is a safe, natural and inexpensive approach to treating infertility.
HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy)
Acupuncture also regulates and normalizes hormone levels and can be a very effective alternative to HRT especially for managing menopausal symptoms.
